Our story

The story behind The Cosmetic Company

Established in 1995 by husband-and-wife team Allyson Gofton and Warwick Kiely, The Cosmetic Company established a strong research and development reputation utilising international recognised technologies to develop formulas - and became the trusted contract manufacturer of a wide range of cosmetic and skincare products for New Zealand and Overseas brands.

After 25 years building the company, Allyson wanted Warwick home in Cambridge to spend more time together as a family, and the business was acquired by The Cosmetic Company NZ Limited in 2021.

The new owners are experienced product businesspeople, based in New Zealand, with a strong reputation for growing healthy companies, who believe in the future of The Cosmetic Company and want to grow it, so it can provide even better products.

Tenacious, creative, and visionary, David is a “joiner of dots”, and sees opportunities and pathways where others do not. Co-Founder of Caci Clinics, Skinsmiths and several other related entities. David is also chair of Caci Group Holdings.

A pioneering spirit with a constant drive to find a better way to deliver results for all stakeholders including employees and customers. Curious and persistent with a burning desire to change industry for the better. Co-Founder of Caci Clinics and Skinsmiths Clinics.

Mark Green
Board Member

Mark Green

Pragmatic, analytical and ethical. Previously a 20 year veteran at Goldman Sachs. He is strategic in his thinking and negotiating, and loyal in his friendships. Mark is also currently a director of a number of companies and a corporate advisor to several others.

Bettina Zadehvakili

Huge passion for product development with a knowledge base including pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and cosmeceutical formulation. Doctor of Pharmacy (Iran), PhD in Pharmaceutical Science (Otago), solid knowledge of GMP/GLP regulations, technical documentation, led a QC lab, and an experienced New Product Development Scientist with Douglas Pharmaceuticals.

Dedicated, loyal and focused on delivering the best for the customer and the team, Tonita plans the plan and is a master at dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s. With a background in administration for the Personal Efficiency Program (PEP Worldwide) and PA to management in Public Relations, Sales and Food & Beverage at the Carton and Heritage hotels - she organises us, and you.

With 25+ years of QC experience in food, pharmacy and cosmeceuticals, a Diploma in Personal Care Science, and having owned her own business, Debbie understands the importance of quality and getting things right first time.
